A big part of the success of baseball in the United States has been its reliance on pitching.
With an average home run per game of 1.26, the Red Sox are on pace to reach the 20-homer mark for the first time in their history.
While the Blue Jays are struggling to make the playoffs, the team has been able to make a run at the World Series for the third straight year and has posted a 2.00 ERA.
While those numbers might not have been ideal, it’s still a solid showing for a team that has gone into the season ranked in the bottom half of the AL Central.
The Red Sox, meanwhile, are still a game ahead of their season mark for wins, and they have one more game left to go.
The Blue Jays have not had a win since June 14, and have a two-game lead on the AL East.
The Sox, by contrast, have a five-game winning streak.
The Boston Red Sox have been outscored 4-0 by the Cleveland Indians.
Cleveland Indians vs. Boston Red Lions The Red Sox were in the midst of a six-game losing streak on Sunday, a streak that began on April 1 when they lost to the Houston Astros.
On Sunday, they were blown out in a 9-1 loss at Camden Yards.
They had been leading 7-0 in the game when Justin Verlander got into trouble with the Astros lineup and was tossed out of the game for his third straight game with a knee injury.
The Indians, meanwhile are coming off a 7-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals, a game in which they lost their third straight.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the Red Lions, however.
They still have one of the best pitching staffs in the American League.
Their rotation is led by left-hander Tyler Naquin, who has posted three complete games this season, and right-hander Luis Severino, who is 5-0 with a 1.00 mark in the past six games.
They also have top prospect Dylan Cease and top prospect Trevor Bauer, both of whom were signed this offseason.
